INVERARY, Ont. – August 7, 2017 – Danny O’Brien continued his hot streak in 358 Modified action at Brockville Ontario Speedway last weekend. O’Brien piloted his 1000 Islands RV Centre/Bob FM No.17d to a fourth-straight podium finish at Brockville and fifth overall with a second-place finish on Saturday night.

O’Brien began the night with a second-place effort in time trials and finished his heat in the same position to earn the fourth starting spot in the 30-lap Feature.

“We started fourth, got to second pretty quick and it’s good we did,” O’Brien said. “The car was good, but the track rubbered-up around lap 15 and made it one lane around the middle and you couldn’t move.”

The second-place run was a strong result against a full 23-car field that featured several outside invaders who joined the talented cast of Brockville regulars.

“A lot of the Quebec guys came down. We had a bunch of good cars there and it was a full field,” O’Brien explained. “It’s been a great year. The top-five are rolling along, just like we did last summer. That’s what pays the bills.”

O’Brien has had another impressive season in 2017 with four wins and 12 top-five finishes in 15 starts this season. Part of O’Brien’s success has been his ability to race clean on his way to the front of the field.

“The older you get, I think you get a little wiser and you learn not to try and win the race on the first lap,” O’Brien explained. “When they drop the green, you can’t try to get to the front on the first lap. It works some nights, but it usually bites you. You have to pick the holes you stick the front end in and race smart.”

The Inverary, Ont. based team also follows a vigorous maintenance and preparation plan that began during the winter months. All of it is essential in order to stay up front during the busiest parts of the season and into the high-paying season-ending races.

“You can get behind pretty quick when stuff starts going wrong,” O’Brien said. “As long as you keep it all going smoothly and you have your spare stuff and maintenance in order, it makes it a lot easier.”

O’Brien’s busy season continues with the rescheduled Memorial Cup at Mohawk International Raceway on Thursday, August 10. The Memorial Cup is a race O’Brien eagerly wants to win after claiming victory in the event last season. He’ll return to Brockville on August 12.
